This is my first "academic" work.
We gathered as three close friends who met at the university's Rock Music Society to finalize our undergrad educations.
The project was about something called "index modulation". This method proposes to embed information not only in the signal's magnitude, phase, and frequency but also in other mediums like channel coefficients. One way to achieve this is to make an antenna to radiate in different patterns for different communication symbols (like bits). We (mostly Okan) designed a "reconfigurable antenna" for this.
Then, we built a whole USRP-based setup to see if we could communicate only using these two radiation patterns. Of course, this required sleepless nights at the lab, figuring out the implementation details and debugging LabVIEW and C++ codes. But we managed...
The result was a 170-page beast to defend in 20 minutes, of course, with a demo :) Since that beast is written in Turkish, we decided to make a conference paper out of it. If you'd want to take a look, here is the link.
Overall, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I can't be grateful enough to these two guys.
